every thursday
Improv Lounge Jam Sessions – live from the basement, every Thursday!
Come along with your instrument (or just yourself) and get stuck into a relaxed night of jamming. Whether you're here to play or just enjoy the tunes, everyone's welcome.
To keep these sessions free to attend, we just ask that you support the night by grabbing a drink or a bite while you're here – every purchase at the bar helps us keep the jams going.
No need to drink alcohol if that's not your thing – we've got loads of soft drinks and some cracking empanadas too.
See you down there!

i'll cry if i want to
tuesday 19/08/2025
For all women and non binary people who have something to say and want the space to say it. This is where we can bring our most honest selves out to seen and liberate each other in doing so.
We will arrive for 6.30pm start, then there will be a two hour vibey writing workhop (pop to the bar whenever you like). There will then be the opportunity to perform your words to an audience who are 100% on your side and want to hear you speak.
Limited spaces! You can tell all your worst secrets! And we are only here to be kind to each other! Writers and non writers extremely welcome. There will be no pressure to read aloud (you are welcome to just listen too).

brigadera
sunday 07/09/2025
Oscillating between a punk ethos and a heartfelt delicacy, the unprecedented sound of BRIGADERA is making its echoes in the international creative music scene. The duo of Beatrice Sberna & Gabriel de Oliveira defines their music as impro-songwriting: influenced by Italian cantautori and Brazilian “folk” traditions, avant-garde jazz, and contemporary pop sensibilities.
Following a first independent EP Verão é Neve (2021), they now announce their debut studiorelease for late 2025 - for which avant-punk “Alternative Scene” and chamber-fok “Mostro” have already been heard. In the last years, they have worked their way out from quirky jazz students to playing Bimhuis, Le Guess Who? and touring the EU with Wendy Eisenberg. Their current collaborations include leading voices of Dutch jazz, such as Sun-Mi Hong and Alessandro Fongaro, underground legends such as Manlio Maresca, and international features in the league of David Binney and Binkbeats.
Their vision and biggest desire: to unfold storytelling through intimate, provocative songs and cathartic improvisation.

william patrick owen
sunday 28/09/2025
William Patrick Owen is a singer songwriter from east London who crafts a distinctly meditative and dreamy brand of contemporary folk music. His latest album, ‘Blossoms Invite the Butterfly’, is an act of generosity, an offering of a melancholy yet tender compassion.
Written over a period of around ten years, the album consists of eight gentle and tender songs that glide through the various chapters of life, from birth through adolescence to maturity and death. It is set in a naturistic and earthy ambience, with birdsong, the sound of walking, cicadas and children’s play fluttering in and out of consciousness.
His songwriting is influenced by 60s songwriters like Nick Drake and John Martyn, as well as contemporary new folk artists like Sufjan Stevens, Adrienne Lenker, Grouper and Florist. The fingerpicking guitar playing is informed by classical, primitive and americana artists, including James Blackshaw, Six Organs of Admittance and Jim O’Rourke. The lyrics emanate from Owen’s Buddhist practice, as well as his interest in the spiritual poetry of Ryokan, Rumi and Rilke.

sheldon agwu trio
friday 07/11/2025
Experience a night of deep groove, open improvisation, and expansive sonic textures.
The trio of Sheldon Agwu (electric guitar), Max Luthert (upright bass & modular synth), and Yusuf Ahmed (drums & percussion)
Each a standout force in London’s vibrant jazz and experimental scenes, the trio blends rich harmonic and textural landscapes with rhythm-driven interplay and bold spontaneity:
- Sheldon Agwu brings a unique blend of jazz guitar, ambient textures, and electronic influences, known for his genre-defying releases such as Kintsugi and Vtet live at Mu and Seeds of Sanctum.
- Yusuf Ahmed is a versatile drummer and improviser whose playing draws from jazz, afro-funk, and world traditions.
- Max Luthert, one of the UK’s most in-demand bassists, has performed with Nubya Garcia, Zara McFarlane, and Moses Boyd. His playing is fluid, grounded, and deeply expressive.
This one-off trio date at The Muddy Puddle promises boundary-pushing improvisation, lush grooves, and a meeting of minds at the intersection of jazz, ambient, and rhythm exploration.
